Dental Hygienist

The dental hygienist is a highly trained dental professional who plays a vital role in maintaining good dental health. Her primary role is in cleaning teeth and helping our patients understand how to maintain their teeth and keep their smile healthy!

​Although she does not examine the teeth she examines the gums and checks for gum diseases. She cleans the teeth (scale and polish) and she also carries out periodontal treatment (occasionally referred to as “deep cleaning”). She will also advise on oral hygiene and on products available. She will advise each patient what are the best products for him or her to use and will tailor a home care plan based on each patients individual needs.

​She can offer really helpful and practical advice on a range of issues from diet and decay prevention to smoking cessation to how to care for your little ones teeth.
